One of Microsoft flagship products – Office 365 was name cloud partner of the year by cloudbusiness.com. Many large companies are moving to the cloud to reduce workforce and increase profits. From 2012 to today, there has been a 20% increase in cloud based public apps. From 13% to 33% and that number will continue to grow as enterprises and eventually industries move more of the business functions and business processes to the cloud. This trend will continue into the future as process become automated and cloud enabled.
MOTC Telecom, a cloud based VoIP service provider, is looking to have 100% cloud automation by 2018. Not only is MOTC Telecom building tools for its voice over IP business, it is also building turn-key cloud businesses for those wishing to make money in the cloud. MOTC Telecom has adopted a model started by Amazon with their AWS service. The latest data I could find about Amazon Web Servers (AWS) is that revenue for last year was close to 10 billion dollars and that the AWS business unit was valued at $44 billion dollars. Amazon started AWS about ten years ago. Compared to HP, which has been around much longer, that is valued at $60 billion dollars. If the picture is not clear, cloud business is where the future is.
Cloud business services are expected to reach $176 billion dollars and the amount going to Black own companies is mathematically zero. The primary reason is that Blacks are not players in the cloud space. In the 1990s, the IT industry went through wrenching change as corporate computing shifted from giant mainframes to smaller servers. Today's cloud technology wave will do more than outplace a few computer operators and COBOL programmers. This wave is already impacting jobs in a harsh but very quiet way. Cloud services, once developed, don’t ask for pay raises, take vacation, sick leave or file complaints. They simply work 24x7 365 earning money for their owners.
Just think about the travel reservation industry has gone through. Travel sites online are cloud businesses. How many fewer human reservationist are needed when the cloud is booking reservations 24x7 365? How much noise was made as the transition was happening and travel agencies went out of business? Very little is the answer. The takeover was subtle. Every industry faces the same challenge as more is moved to the cloud. Airlines, hotels and rental car companies all have cloud reservation systems because they can’t compete if they do not.
Join the cloud movement or be crushed by it!
